Harvey Cedars Weekend (NJ)
These photos were taken during my time in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey for the Northeast College Conference. The topic for this year was "An Overflowing of Life as Channels of Blessings to the Church". As a young christian, I was very encouraged to become a channel of blessing in whatever situation I am in. A picture of Jacob's life was that of a man who continually blessed people no matter what his disposition was or whatever state he was in. He was able to bless people because he was overflowing with Blessing from God. To be overflowing means to be filled first. Jacob went through experiences where he opened himself to be filled with the divine life to an extent that he reached his full maturity in life. For us to bless others we must be filled with Blessing in ourselves. This Blessing is not any material gain or human desires. This Blessing is a person who is Christ Himself. We need to be filled with Christ so we can bless others with Christ. This is the Blessing that can satisfy and supply people. Simple ways to be filled with Christ is by coming to Him every day. A take home verse I received from the conference is Matthew 6:11
I decided to explore NY and find myself a good film developer as I was unsatisfied with the service I got from Rite Aide. Through Foursquare and Yelp, I stumbled on this hidden store in Brooklyn at its Greenpoint neighborhood, Kubus. I walked into the shop and a man, aged with much knowledge in photography quickly set me up on the type of prints I wanted. I must say when he thought I was well-versed with photography since I already know what I want and how I wanted them, he was very amiable to me. When I came back to pick up my prints, he realized my skills were actually poor as evidence by the photos developed, he was brusque to send me on my way. He advised me that there was something wrong with the rewinding and I should bring my camera to get checked up. I think I will be back with my camera and give the shop another try. I like how my prints are ready in 30 minutes (unlike 2 previous shops I visited), have an option of printing them in matte, and being charged for only $11 for both prints and CDs for 24 exposures(though I paid $9 only because not all photos came out good).
